This months prize is...

Well it is February so what else could I get but chocolate? I will add some very good German chocolate to our prize package. Here are the rules again. I am going to buy one prize per month for 12 months. You send me your easy and healthy family meals. Our family will test your recipes. At the end of 12 months we will choose a winner. The winner gets all 12 prizes! Since chocolate is the prize I will not actually buy it until I send the winner their wouldn't want old chocolate! I will even ask you if you like white, milk or dark chocolate. Please send us your recipes by leaving them on my comments. If you have already sent a recipe do not worry...we will get to it. As always, thank you for your great ideas!!!

  1. I've got a recipe to share!

    Scalloped Potatoes:
6 potatoes (Yukon gold, if you can get them)
    1 small onion

    1/4 cup butter
    1/4 cup flour
    2 1/2 cups milk
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    sprinkle of pepper

    1. Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour. Cook paste for 1 minute.
    2. Slowly add milk while stirring briskly. Add salt and pepper. Cook until thick (about 5 minutes).
    3. Take of heat.
    4. Thinly slice potatoes. Chop onions.
    5. Grease 8x8 pan. Layer 1/3 of potatoes and 1/2 of onion into pan. Repeat. Finish with layer of potatoes.
    6. Pour sauce over potatoes.
    7. Cover and bake for 1 hour at 350degrees F. Then uncover and bake 30 more minutes.
    8. Rest 5 min before serving.

One thing though - this recipe is from a Canadian Living cookbook, so you probably couldn't put it in your cookbook without asking for permission.
